FAQs
Your questions, answered
A flower press is a simple but beautiful tool for preserving flowers by compressing them between layers of absorbent paper. You place your flowers between the blotting paper sheets, tighten the brass wing nuts to apply pressure, and leave them for two to four weeks. The result is perfectly flat, dried flowers that retain much of their original colour and form.
Our press uses A5 blotting paper which is 148x210mm — suitable for most wedding flowers including roses, sweet peas, gypsophila, lavender, and flat-headed blooms. Very bulky flowers such as full roses may need to be separated into individual petals before pressing.
Most flowers are fully pressed within two to four weeks. Thinner, more delicate blooms such as sweet peas and pansies may be ready in as little as ten days, while thicker flowers may take a little longer. We recommend leaving them undisturbed for at least three weeks to be sure.
The press is made from either oak or marine ply, chosen for its durability and smooth finish. The hardware — wing nuts and bolts — is solid brass or zinc alloy. The press is hand-finished with satin laquer and built to last a lifetime.
Yes, the press is available without personalisation if you prefer a clean finish. Simply leave the engraving fields blank at checkout.
All presses are made to order in our Nottinghamshire workshop. Please allow up to five working days for your order to be made and dispatched. We offer free standard UK delivery.
The press is presented in a natural cotton gift bag, making it ready to give just as it arrives. We don't offer additional gift wrapping at this time.
We're unable to accept returns on personalised orders as each press is made specifically for you. If your order arrives damaged or there is an error with your engraving, please get in touch within 14 days and we'll put it right.
Wipe the press clean with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to water or direct sunlight, which may affect the wood over time. The brass hardware can be polished occasionally with a soft cloth to maintain its shine.
Absolutely. The press is a wonderful tool for preserving any flowers that are meaningful to you — garden blooms, wildflowers, flowers from a special occasion, or simply whatever is beautiful in the moment.
